Malcolm Welsford is the unsung hero of New Zealand rock production. Highly versatile for 17 years (a veteran by Kiwi standards) it is down to his dexterity that albums by the Feelers, Tadpole, and Shihad are exceptional in quality. The New Zealand music industry honored him with Producer of the Year in 1995, 1997, and 1998 and Billboard acknowledged him with visionary producer and engineer.
