Biography

First booked by the Billboard charting icon Talib Kweli, Khaiim (RapOet) is the charismatic MC whose Manhattan Night with Dreamville's Mez Davis summitted the Indie Hip-Hop Top 40. (Mez is the engineer who discovered J. Cole before Jay-Z did, engineering the sound Roc Nation was craving). With over 300 live gigs yearly, Self Suffice recently took time to focus on music releases, seeing plays rise from under 100 to over 35k per song, even surpassing 1k on release days! Fans of Tribe Called Quest, Common, J. Cole, & MF Doom, have helped Self Suffice land 5 songs in Spotify's Top 10% Most Played, & his monthly collabs often appear on the Bap Pack! playlist. His ghostwriting, references, & features start at $50/bar (DM @rapoet on IG). Since turning down a major Def Jam deal to go to college, he became a radio station Music Director, graduated, & performed worldwide. Having shared the stage with all his role models, from Alice Walker, Jessica Care Moore, and Abiodun (Last Poets); to Common, KRS-1, and Joyner Lucas... Khaiim even received awards from President Obama and Biden's Champion's of Change, praise from the NY Times, and repeated features on NPR, among other outlets. The City of Hartford (Connecticut) recently instated Khaiim as America's first ever Hip-Hop Troubadour, and you can catch him performing live with the Bap Pack on April 1st, at the International Hip-Hop Festival (at Trinity College).
