Hip-Hop artist and producer Kenneth Lassiter Jr began singing in his parents' church choir at the age of 5 with his mother Devon Lassiter as the director. His father Kenneth Lassiter Sr. introduced him to the process of music production around the same time. At the age of 12 he recorded his first song with a special program ran by his school. In 2009 KJ started highschool and also began writing and recording his own songs with his friends using the microphone from his "Rockband" video game and cheap production software on his computer. Although KJ was known as a singer it wasn't until he started college in 2013 that he really started to show that he also possessed a gift for lyricism and producing his own music. In 2016 KJ joined the United States Air Force National Guard. This allowed him to invest more money into his music and and get his own equipment. Before he left for training KJ released a mixtape titled "May 17th" on his soundcloud page. This helped him gain a little notoriety around the city of Philadelphia but unfortunately he wasn't there to capitalize due to his training. KJ continued to build his library of music and beats while he was away. By 2019 KJ had begun to build a stronger following from his own music as well as covers he had recorded.
