Ketan Bhatti is a music composer and drummer and a border crosser between different genres and cultural worlds. His compositions range from contemporary chamber music, experimental music and dance theatre, stage and film music to electronic productions in Hip Hop and Electronica. He is working as composer of music theatre, dance theatre, theatre music and film scores since 2003 together with his brother Vivan Bhatti, for instance at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Schauspiel Köln. Since 2009 Vivan and Ketan Bhatti have composing and producing the music for the shows of the Urban Berlin Dance Company Flying Steps. The joint production Red Bull Flying Bach was awarded the Echo Klassik Special Prize. Together with Cymin Samawatie, Ketan Bhatti directs the transcultural Chamber Orchestra Divan der Kontinente. Bhatti’s close cooperation with the Berlin-Icelandic Ensemble Adapter resulted in a series of world premieres in the context of the Vienna Modern Festival 2015 on the theme of Groove and New Music. Bhatti has a large number of publications and international concerts to his credit. He has received fellowships and awards from the German Musikrat, the Berlin senate and the Goethe Institute. As composer of a concert for Jazz and New electronic Music performed with Simon Stockhausen, Ketan Bhatti received the Karl-Hofer-Preis 2008. From January to June 2017 Ketan Bhatti was a fellow of the Kulturakademie Tarabya in Istanbul. www.bhatti-music.de
