Biography

Established by drummer/composer A. Eek in 1992 in the city of Drammen. Regarded as the creators of the genre funeral-doom metal. The debut "Tragedies" was released in 1995 featuring growling vocals and soprano performed by Einar Fredriksen (RIP) and Toril Snyen. Recorded "To mourn is a virtue" in 1996 ( not to be released till 2011, featuring F. Forsmo on vox) Followed by "In fields of pestilent grief", 2001, featuring the soprano Hanne Hukkelberg. 2006 sees the band releasing "From these wounds". The debut of singer Frode Forsmo. 2008 saw the release of "As the light does the shadow", featuring guest appearance by Rob Lowe(CANDLEMASS, Solitude Aeternus), still with F. Forsmo on vocals. In 2012 Funeral released "Oratorium " with singer Sindre Nedland behind the mic. 2021 the band released "Praesentialis in Aeternum ". Also this time with S.Nedland on vocals.
