Blueburst is the brainchild of an unlikely “new” artist: guitarist/vocalist Craig Douglas Miller, who’s releasing a debut album at age 50, reviving a music career he’d once written off. After major label interest for his 90’s band The Reach never quite panned out, Miller entered a 20-year musical hibernation, the result of untreated depression, writer’s block, and “a few too many gin & tonics” as Miller puts it. But after connecting with guitarist Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, Noctorum, MOAT, The Saints), Miller found what he’d sorely needed: a trusted mentor and collaborator. Miller dug in and recorded an album’s worth of original songs, with contributions from Willson-Piper, drummer Michael Jerome (Better Than Ezra, Richard Thompson, Course Of Empire) and bassist Ryan Kelly (Dayroom) among others. The result is lush, guitar-based alt-rock, rooted in 80’s alternative and post-punk, but with a timeless feel that alternately crunches, chimes, jangles and pounds. Blueburst’s debut album, Significance, dropped Oct 20th, 2023 to stellar reviews. Their most recent single, "The Pass", is a Rush song from the 1990's, reworked acoustically with no drums as tribute to Neil Peart.
