Biography

Hailing from the vibrant city of Miami, FL, Monterrey is a rising force in the indie music scene. Founded in 2014 by artist/producer, Roger Del Pino, his music blends ethereal soundscapes with introspective lyrics. Over the years, he and his group have carved out a unique space within the indie and electronic music scenes blurring the line between genres. Launched in 2014 with a music video and single titled 'Play Along', Del Pino channeled his love for 80s new wave/synth-pop by playing a series of shows as a solo electronic act. He eventually enlisted the help of other local musicians and producers to reform Monterrey into a touring act. In 2019, the Miami New Times named Monterrey 'Best Electronica Act', and in 2020, his pandemic-inspired medley, 'Terrarium', found its way onto Spotify's Fresh Finds Indie playlist. Moving to Brooklyn in 2021, Del Pino found himself alone again as a solo music act, caught in the pull of NYC's relentless energy and vast music scene. The city seeped into his music, aiding him to write the songs off his forthcoming EP before moving back to Miami in 2024. Monterrey's leading single "Dreamin'" released on August 30, 2024.
