kakia is a singer, songwriter and producer from Namibia, who has relocated to Milwaukee, WI. Growing up in the small town of Oranjemund, in the south of Namibia, she realised her love for music young, writing songs from the age of 9. After moving to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia, she started posting music to her SoundCloud page, and therefore began her professional music journey. Her latest project is her 'coming down' EP, released in October 2022. This project was written, produced and edited by kakia. The EP starts with 'nightmare', a monologue spoken by her close friend, Yevai, about being in toxic relationships. 'u can't make me smile' follows the opening track and is a slow, sad song about not being able to connect with someone. The third track on the EP, 'your song', is about meeting someone new, with whom she connects with and has respect for as they've changed her perspective on relationships. The closing track, and kakia's favourite on the EP, is 'haven't left yet'. The guitar piece for this song was played by kakia's close friend, and long time collaborator, Leo Nombanza. This is special because the song is dedicated to kakia's friends. Since moving to Milwaukee, kakia has starred on the season finale of Live on Location with Jon Henry, which is available to watch on YouTube, on Joe Ludwig's profile.
