Giovanni Cigui is a versatile, internationally renown saxophonist and band leader. Deeply rooted in the jazz and bebop tradition, his musical style integrates contemporary and post-bop jazz, folk, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. Hailing from Trieste, Italy - where he started playing at the age of 10 - his sound is an intriguing blend of jazz, hip-hop, folk, pop, and electronic influences, shaped by his travels through the world. In 2014, he released his first record with his music. Since then, he's graced stages across Europe, including the prestigious 'Dizzy's Coca Cola (Jazz at the Lincoln Center)' in New York, the North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz and many others. Now, calling Mexico City home, he's making waves in the local music scene, you can catch him at the most acclaimed venues. In 2020, he dropped two standout albums: 'ROCK' on Italy's Auand Records and 'CHEEWI BEATS' via Last Jeronimo Music Studios. Giovanni Cigui has shared the stage with musical titans, including Dick Oatts, Terrel Stafford, Jason Lindner, Panagiotis Andreou, Luis Bonilla, and a host of other music eminences. But he's more than just a musician. In 2023, he partnered with the Italian Cultural Institute to champion jazz and Italian jazz artists in Mexico. He's also the founder of 'La Meeting - club de intercambio musical' in Xalapa, Veracruz, a haven for jazz enthusiasts exploring improvisation and the language of jazz, and has taught masterclasses around Europe and Mexico.
