James Hersey started releasing DIY bedroom pop in his late teens, quickly establishing a name in Vienna’s indie scene. In 2012/13 he released his first giveaway mixtapes, quickly picking up momentum online and highlighting his name with independent radios and bloggers around the world. 2014 he toured Europe and the US supporting Milky Chance, who released his early efforts via their own imprint. Then in 2015 a DIY rooftop-video of his song “Coming Over” became a viral hit turned Billboard Number 1 by EDM heavyweights Kygo and Dillon Francis. Notable guest performances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and the Hollywood Bowl were followed up by his own hit single “Miss You,” catapulting James to global success with his unique voice and nuanced writing style. In 2021 James featured legendary Canadian funk-duo Chromeo on his single “Closer.” 2023 sees the artist's first independent single-releases in almost ten years with the neo-vintage sounding "Fake Love" and "Right Where I Am." What looks like a new direction from the outside is a natural manifestation for the artist himself, combining his experience and skills as a songwriter toward his deep passion for rock and roll music.
