AIN'T THAT A SHAME?

Biography

Heavily influenced by modern pop and hip hop, DCharp is an American artist born on the east coast in the small city of Manchester, New Hampshire. After early days performing in the pop/punk genre, he heard the record “How We Do (‘93 Til Freestyle)” by artist Freddie Gibbs that sparked his passion in hip hop. In 2020, he met a local producer/rapper, Homie Juan Kenobie, through mutual peers. Connecting immediately, Homie’s production experience and involvement within the regional New England hip hop community sparked DCharp’s current path as an artist. “I remember A Day to Remember mixing pop/punk with metal, and just thought of that same approach with pop and hip hop. I wrote in his basement studio and Homie let me share the stage with him as a new artist. That’s my brother for life.” Late 2020, DCharp released “Shine” and “Real,” his first two singles in collaboration with Homie Juan. Late 2022, they released “AIN’T THAT A SHAME?” across streaming platforms. With a passion for expressing life’s ups and downs through music, DCharp draws from personals moments in his life, often exploring love, loss, and mental health. “My music comes from experiences in my life. ADHD, anxiety, and the women I’ve loved have had monumental impacts on who I am. Feels like a lot of artists don’t talk about love no more, but it feels natural for me. When I’m writing, I can say anything that I might suppress out of fear or pride outside of my music. Guess that’s my form of therapy.”
