Biography

Beniönica is the pseudonim of Albena Biserova, a Bulgarian Spain-based singer, songwriter and composer. She began writing songs at age 12 some months after her family and she moved to Spain. Beniönica, or Beni for family and friends, grew up listening to American and English pop-rock music, and influenced by the punk-pop of the 2000's and later RnB and American rap. As she continued exploring, at 15 Beni crossed by a DJing DAW emulator called E-Jay and discovered her ability to build structures and beats. This would make her interest for music grow up and later she joined her university choir and parallel project as Make My Story Symphonic Rock, taking some closer connection to classical and lyrical singing as a light soprano. By 2013 she joined alternative cover band Six Sides of Sin, with one of former members of Norwald, playing for fun. In 2015, was born a duo jazz-fusion project Djazzling Creatures with guitarist Hiro S. from Lie Kiss Die until their split in 2019. While all this, Albena continued writing songs, and started some guitar and piano incursions into new instrumentals and solos as a self-healing and an expression of state of mind. The same 2019, she joined 3 new projects: Interludium Band, Bennie & Rachel, and an unreleased experimental music project with Sigori. 2020 Pandemia cut great part of those projects due to split of members and distance, so she recovers old compositions and new ideas to start her own solo music project under the name of Beniönica.
