A biopic in the making, the raw energy Dakil transmits to the audience is unarguably intoxicating. This California native songwriter comes from both an adventurous tale and a sorrowful one. His musical journey brought him to become an immigrant making his way to Spain- living a double Gemini life as an English teacher by day; and by night (after siesta), an indie artist. The devastation begins after being diagnosed with acromegaly, a rare disease involving a substantial brain tumor secreting excess growth hormone and losing his oldest sister, 3-year old nephew, and brother in law all in one tragic alcohol related automobile catastrophe in the same year. He believes that the diagnosis was a blessing in disguise as he is now able to take action with his chronic disease & less be symptomatic. It also brought him back closer to his family as they were able to have one last reunion together before his sister’s untimely passing. Despite not wanting the world to be able to relate with his tragedies, Dakil has somehow has become a symbol of hope to people experiencing grief. He chooses to be strong & to share his story to the people that need to hear it by persevering and doing what he does best, performing and music.
