The Austrian-Rumanian pianist Sorina Aust-Ioan performed Mozart’s A-Major and Beethoven’s B-flat-Major concerto in public at the age of ten and eleven, respectively. Nine years old, she won the first price in the National Competition for Youth-Composition in Bukarest. Her first teacher was Prof. Florica Nitulescu, who was a student of the famous Alfred Cortot at the Paris Conservatory. She studied at the Vienna Music Academy in the master classes of Bruno Seidlhofer and Dieter Weber, having been accepted as a preparatory student already at the age of fourteen. During this time she encountered famous pianist-colleagues as Rudolf Buchbinder, Mitsuko Uchida, Nelson Freyre and many others. After her concert examination she continued her studies with Prof. Stefan Askenase. During her studies she gained many honourable distinctions. Alfred Brendel appreciated her CDs, above all her ‚Fantasien’. Since 1970 she gave piano-lessens at the Köln Conservatoire and was assistant professor at the Kölner Hochschule für Musik und Tanz. She gives concerts in the whole world and completes her CD-sequels ‘Fantsien’ (vol. 1-6) and ‘Tagebücher’ (vol. 1-3). Since 2012 she organizes festivals ‘Musik-Kunst-Literatur’ at different places in the world. Her piano repertoire encloses classical (Beethoven) and modern piano music (e.g. Pierre Boulez, Georg Kröll). Recently in Paris there was a première of works by Philippe Dartois for piano and voices.
