Garden Gate is the baroque psych project of North Country New York-based artist Timmi Meskers (ex Brown Recluse, White Candles). Drawing inspiration from dreams and the tarot, Meskers’ experiments in channeled composition and divination eventually culminated in the 2016 Dark Harvest album on Sunstone Records (UK) and Golden Brown (US). Met with positive reviews in the UK psychedelic music press (notably, a five-star review in Shindig! Magazine), Dark Harvest was followed shortly thereafter by Bonfires, an instrumental EP mining the autumnal motifs of folk horror and library music for its Halloween release. The 2018 Flower Crowns EP was followed by a series of pop singles; 2021 saw the release of the Blood Mansion LP via Library of the Occult, an original score for a conceptual horror film which deconstructed and reexamined horror and exploitation movie tropes through a queer feminist lens. In 2022, Genki Xperience released the Bonfires and Flower Crowns EPs together on vinyl for the first time, including previously unreleased tracks. Spring of 2024 sees the release of the Magic Lantern LP on Clay Pipe Music, a collection of melancholy yet hopeful neo-classical library pieces that previously soundtracked Audible Originals' Strange Company audiobook.
