Biography

Ana Alcaide: explorer of hidden treasures. Spanish performer, composer and music producer who carries out research on ancient traditions and cultures.
‘Her music transports you to distant lands, ancient times and magical places. It is an invitation to build bridges between cultures and a call to tolerance through musical fusion. Music is her vehicle "to reach beauty, dialogue and encounter".
Her upcoming album ‘RITUAL’ is a mystical journey, a hymn to the power of connection through ritual actions. Inspired by her personal encounter with the Iranian singer Reza Shayesteh and persian poetry. Available in MARCH 2022.
Ana Alcaide is the director of the ‘World Music Festival’ in Toledo and a pioneer in Spain in the dissemination of the ‘Nyckelharpa’, an old Swedish instrument capable of making those who listen to it travel back in time. With it she has traveled the world, claiming the transforming power of music and its pedagogical value.
Her music career started ‘accidentally’. While pursuing her degree in biology: Ana travelled to Sweden where she stumbled upon the nyckelharpa. She fell in love with it and taught herself how to play it on the streets of Toledo, far from its traditional setting. Her music has been often described as the ‘Toledo Soundtrack’.
She has collaborated with artists such as Luis Cobos, Paco Ibañez and Loreena McKennitt.
Ana resides in Toledo with her family and she is mother of 3 children
