Laurinda Hofmeyr is a South African musician and songwriter making music with a strong world music influence. She specialises in setting Afrikaans poetry to music. Her initial success came through writing hits for Afrikaans artists like Laurika Rauch, before embarking on a solo career with her critically acclaimed “Perd oor die maan” album. She has explored various influences during her award-winning career, with her most recent album, the French language Afrique mon Désir, diving deep into French poetry from African poets. Recorded with an ensemble of musicians from South Africa and the DRC, the album also features legendary Malagasy accordionist Régis Gizavo in the final recordings of his career.
