Seattle based Indie Folk singer/songwriter, 2020 Doe Bay Artist Resident, 2019 Jack Straw Cultural Center recording artist grant recipient, 2018 Listen Up! Women in Music grant recipient, Tekla Waterfield incorporates elements of folk, country, indie, rhythm and blues to create lush beds of sound with her unaffected, dynamic vocals. Some of her favorite artists are The Cowboy Junkies, Gillian Welch, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Fleetwood Mac, Patty Griffin, Brandi Carlile and Neko Case. Partnering with collaborator and husband, Jeff Fielder (Mark Lanegan, Amy Ray) to produce her 2018 release, The Curtain Falls, Waterfield garnered critical acclaim, radio play, and placement in the award-winning indie film, "Dakota" with her song, Rock and Roll Man. The film went on to win: "Best Original Music" in the Richmond VA International Film Festival, "Best of Metro DC" at the DC Independent Film Festival, "Best Actress", "Best Editing", "Best of NOVA", and "Best Score" at the North Virginia Film Festival. Also from "The Curtain Falls", the music video made in partnership with Seattle filmmaker, Ryan Jorgensen, for Waterfield's song, Nice Try, was selected by the One Reel Film Festival to be screened/presented by the Seattle International Film Festival at the 2019 Bumbershoot Art and Music Festival. Waterfield and her husband and musical partner, Jeff Fielder, are releasing new work late 2020, and in 2021 so stay tuned!
