Born on July 5, 1989, Ray was raised in Camden, Arkansas in the Fairview community. Since the age of 5, he began writing music after his uncle passed away in 1996. 2Pac was his favorite rapper growing up. By 2001, he began learning to make beats on Fruity Loops. In January 2006, he began recording with a desktop microphone from Walmart. He gained buzz by selling his music at his high school. 
 After graduating high school in 2007, he attended Southern Arkansas University-Magnolia on a band scholarship. After completing 3 semesters, he dropped out of college. In 2011, he released his first official mixtape called “My Story: Memoirs of a King”. In 2013, he released his second mixtape “Highway II Success”. After his mother passed 3 weeks later, Ray chose to stop rapping. In May 2014, his daughter Samya Smith was born. He dedicated his third and final mixtape “Rayincarnation” to his daughter and mom. 
 In 2018, Ray began doing stand-up comedy performing his first shows in Dallas, TX, Nashville, TN, and Memphis, TN. After creating a buzz, he continued to perform at comedy clubs. In 2019, he launched his successful clothing brand called “Rockystyle Apparel”. After taking a 4 year hiatus from music, Ray signed with Block Messiah Entertainment in 2020. In March 2022, he changed his stage name from Ray Rashad to ABG Rocky.
