Biography

Emili Brugalla is one of the most distinguished Catalan pianists. He graduated from the Liceu Superior Conservatory of Music in Barcelona, where at present he is a chamber music professor. He studied with Eulàlia Solé and Maria Curcio. Of great importance for his artistic development was his work with Maria João Pires. As a soloist and a member of chamber ensembles Emili Brugalla has offered recitals in all Europe, Japan, China, Middle West and South America. He has performed at the most important venues and festivals of Spain such as: Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Auditori of Barcelona, International Festival of Granada, Festival of Perelada, International Festival of Torroella de Montgrí, International Festival of Santander, , “Quincena Musical” of San Sebastián, as well at important festivals abroad such as: International Piano Festival of Cagliari (Italy), En blanc et noir-France Musique (France), Ars musica (Belgium). Emili Brugalla appears as a soloist of the National Orchestra of Catalunya – Barcelona, the Symphony Orchestra of Vallès and the Chamber Orchestra of Andorra. A very active chamber music performer, Mr. Brugalla he is a founding member of the internationally recognized Trio Kandinsky which has large discography featuring works by Brahms, Clara Schumann, Dvořák, Schönberg, Granados, Montsalvatge, Joan Guinjoan and many others, on the labels “ColumnaMúsica”, “Anacrusi”, etc. Lately he has formed a duo with the pianist Vesko Stambolov.
