Biography

The New York Times has praised Caleb Hudson's trumpet artistry as 'brilliantly stylish.' Uniting virtuosity with musical sensitivity, he has become a prominent figure in the world of classical music. His tenure with the esteemed Canadian Brass, spanning over a decade, has seen him enchant audiences globally. A Lexington, Kentucky native, Hudson is a distinguished alumnus of the Juilliard School, holding both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. March 2024 marks the release of his debut solo album, 'Nothing Less,' showcasing a unique blend of solo trumpet with violin, cello, flute, and clarinet. Drawing inspiration from the Old Testament story of Elijah, "Nothing Less" meditates on the human tendency to forsake truth for self-exaltation, reflecting Hudson’s own quest for transformation and spiritual reawakening. It features compositions by Remy Le Boeuf, Kyle Athayde, and Hudson himself, alongside innovative arrangements of works by Corelli and Philip Glass. A prolific composer and arranger, Hudson focuses on creating chamber music with a focus on ensemble-driven dialogue and exploration. His original work, 'White Rose Elegy,' was premiered by the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass at Lincoln Center. Hudson is based in Austin, Texas and serves as the Associate Professor of Trumpet at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin. Caleb's life is grounded in his faith in Christ, sharing his journey with his wife, Amanda, and their three children.
