began his musical studies at the age of three in Caracas. A Berklee College Suma Cum Laude, Gonzalo has established himself as a multi-instrumentalist. He has performed with the Simón Bolivar National Youth Orchestra, Maria Schneider, Golijov's "La Pasión", the Labeque Sisters, Simon Rattle and many more. He leads "Plural" and "La Clave Secreta", nominated for the 2008 Grammys in the Best Tropical Album category. As a recording artist, Grau has participated in over eighty productions. Some of his productions include the studio recording of Golijov's La Pasión según San Marcos (ECHO award 2010), the album "México" of Rolando Villazón (ECHO award 2011), and Nazareno with pianists Katia and Marielle Labeque. Also the production of West Side Story with the Labeque sisters (Choc the Classic). Wearing his composer and arranger hat, his achievements include original works commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, Katia & Marielle Labeque, the Bach Academy International (winner of the European Composer Award 2011), the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, the Boston Pops, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Brooklyn Rider, the Knights and many more. In 2019, he was nominated to the Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Arrangement Instrumental and Vocals", for his participation in the album "Dreamers" (by Magos Herrera and Brooklyn Rider). Latin Grammy nominee 2023, in the "Best Classical/Contemporary Composition" category, for his string-quartet "Aroma a Distancia".
