Quentin was a fine violinist from France who was equally adept at playing the viola. His repute was substantial playing at the Opera from 1718 for a number of years and composing music for his instrument. Compositions scored by Quentin were numerous and included violin sonatas in four or five movements. He also composed a great number of trio sonatas with suggestions of performances with an orchestra. Technically the sonatas are demanding and require triple stops and quadruple stops with bowing marks indicated.
