It started in a basement in Calgary, when a friend showed Mitch Vavra how to work a set of turntables. From that moment, he was hooked and began DJing and later studied music production and audio-engineering at Pyramind, the institute for digital audio training, in San Francisco. Since then, performing as Mixol, Vavra has spun across Canada and the States, finding joy in seeing people come alive on the dance floor. From listening to early two-thousands BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes by the likes of Mylo, Erick Morillo, Tiesto, and Eric Prydz, Mitch has honed his craft as a sound selector and innovator both behind the decks and in the studio. Having had the opportunity to play alongside some of his major influences, the likes of which including, Omid 16B, Mr. C, J.Phlip, Satoshi Tomiie, and Jody Wisternoff. Mitch has developed a sound that draws from his experiences on the dance floor and in the booth. He aims to bring those feelings to life through his take on analogue synth driven music. Releases from Mitch can be heard on Emerald & Doreen and Emengy Deep.
