Jonathan ‘Slink’ Gibbs grew up in Small Heath, Birmingham, UK. From a young age he enjoyed writing stories, even wanting to be an author as a career. What inspired him as a child was writing poetry for school competitions. This then developed into writing lyrics when he was 17years old. His main influence to pick up a mic was Eminem. His childhood was turbulent due to the environment inside his home, and outside of his home. Through difficulty however, Slink made his way through education to achieve a degree in Psychology. Slink details his life experiences in his music. From life growing up in Small Heath and the obstacles he faced, advocation for mental health, parental struggles, money struggles, faith and church, university experiences and friendships, it’s all included in his art.
