In the midst of the rise of online music creators and netlabels, no one is quite doing it like NARKOSIS are. An international hip-hop group rooted in rave culture, queer identity, and Internet hippie weirdness, the band is known for their diverse and progressive sound: elements of cloud rap, hypnagogic pop, east coast hip-hop, and old skool rave can be found sprinkled throughout their discography, all with an abstract twist. Formed in 2021 by outsider house savant Jacob Parvin (elitimesfour , they / them) on vocals and multi-genre oddball Noah Thacker ( Lucid Screaming , he / they) on production. While their debut, Faculties of the Skull, was an example of a group testing the waters, their recruitment of beatmaker Alkaline Pink (any / all) for their second album, Cauldron of Woe, saw them approaching their signature hazy sound with a much more refined and consistent style of production: two producers, one Master of Ceremonies, one singular vision. Their new album, titled No Hard Feelings, was released in March 2024, and is a venture into jazz rap, boom bap, and drumless (think of a terminally online Some Rap Songs). #StaySmiley
