Biography

An El Salvadorean/Chilean Hip Hop artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Having grown up in the El Salvadorean community around the North-Western and inner city suburbs, Rambito was given his name by his elder family friends for having the physical characteristics of Sylvester Stallone's character "Rambo" as a child. Taking inspiration from the private Latin house parties of his childhood days in the 2000's, Rambito uses his passion and knowledge of Hip Hop to blend his Latin roots with his sounds, creating a unique and unforeseen blend of Australian, Latin, West Coast & East Coast Hip Hop-inspired music. Holding a deep desire to represent for his hometown, Rambito labels himself as a resident of "Burn City" and constantly shouts out his city with the acronym "MV" [Melbourne, Victoria], which was inspired by his lifelong support for the local professional football club Melbourne Victory. His lyrics often dwelve into the struggles and blessings of being from an immigrant family, living in a land where there is a constant fight for justice for the Indigenous and traditional custodians of the country. Having the DNA of the Mapuche people of Chile and the Pipil people of El Salvador himself, Rambito carries the pride of having native blood while battling the harsh realities of today's socio-political issues within cultural communities around the world. In this big realm of Hip Hop, Rambito is certainly one to look for.
