Michael Owusu Frimpong; Mickey Lux, is a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Kumasi, Ghana. He describes his music as a “true expression of pure human emotion through sounds and words”. As a result, Mickey has had an intimate relationship with music from a very early age. He started learning the keyboard at age six and was performing in the All Power Evangelistic Ministries choir by age nine. With the guidance of his brother, he developed his skills practically and in music theory. His foray into popular music started with Bruno Mar’s Doo Wops & Hooligans & Lil Wayne’s Carter IV. He further developed his skills by studying Wizkid, Amakye Dede, Sarkodie, Castro D’stroyer, Jon Bellion & R2bees. He had his high school education at Osei Tutu Senior High where he played the trumpet as part of the school Choir, Cadet and Music Band. After high school, he took up apprenticeship as a producer with a local studio and started honing his production skills. He recorded his first professional song in 2018. His follow up demo led to his discovery by Michael ‘Boss’ Asante who signed him to BKC Music, the label he co-owns with his cousin Ko-Jo Cue. Mickey is currently in the studio recording and gearing up for the release of his debut EP.
