Biography

Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas studied organ, harpsichord, chamber music and conducting at the Paris and Lyon conservatoires (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique), notably with Louis Robilliard, Willem Jansen, Michel Bourcier, Nicolas Brochot, François Espinasse, Yves Rechsteiner, Olivier Baumont and Blandine Rannou. He won the first prize of several international organ competitions: the « Grand prix d’orgue Jean-Louis Florentz – Académie des Beaux-Arts » in 2009, the « Gottfried Silbermann Competition » in Freiberg (Germany) in 2011, an the « Xavier Darasse competition » in Toulouse in 2013. He also won the second prize of the international competition « Saint-Maurice » in Switzerland. Louis-Noël has performed in concert solo throughout Europe (Paris La Madeleine, Germany Berliner Dom, Switzerland, Italy, Bruxelles Cathedrale, Festival of Monaco, Alkmaar Festival, Festival Toulouse-Les-Orgues...) Since 2010 he conduct the baroque ensemble Les Surprises that has recorded two discs with the Ambronay Editions label. He has performed with this ensemble in France, Belgium, Germany, Italy… He works with such conductors as Hervé niquet, Arie van Beek and Roberto Forés Veses. He received the « déclics jeunes » scholarship of the Fondation de France for his research on the composers Rebel and Francoeur. Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas is artist in residence at the Fondation Royaumont (near Paris) as organist at the Cavaillé-Coll organ.
