Biography

Don Burgundy grew up in Marion, South Carolina and music has been a part of his whole life. He grew up singing in church and played in concert band. He also writes poetry but found his love for rap at the age of 16. Over time he would battle rap throughout his career in the Air Force, and began recording music and throwing shows in Missouri. He was able to sell his first hard copy album, Strength-n-Honor, in local stores. After getting out of the Air Force in 2010, Don moved to Las Vegas, which he saw as a land of opportunity for better networking and quality of music production. He immediately became a part of the music scene as Ill Ru Minati, having performed all over the city and eventually became a battle rapper in battle rap league AHAT. During this time he was most noted for his performances and lyricism, but it was his singles “Run The Town” and “Dope Man” that had local crowds chanting his hooks. He also was able to release his mixtape Simply Complex which was hosted by the late great DJ Certified in 2012. Later he changed his name to King Ill Ru to reflect his growth and self love. He has continued to battle and create music as a Vegas representative.
