Biography

ghost elektron [Sean Albiez] is an electronic, ambient and experimental music project that takes inspiration from Jóhann Jóhannsson, William Basinski, Max Richter, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Harold Budd, Brian Eno and many others in contemporary ambient electronic and modern classical music. Sean Albiez also releases music as one half of Nostalgia Deathstar. He has written widely on electronic music and co-edited books on Brian Eno, Kraftwerk and The Velvet Underground (Bloomsbury). He has been involved in electronic music-making since the 1980s and as ghost elektron draws from musical approaches developed during his PhD exploring the creative practices of electronica in the 2000s. A limited edition digipak CD release of 'Unlocked' is available at https://ghost-elektron.bandcamp.com/releases ''Unlocked' finds Albiez in Harold Budd-like minimalist mind. The piano is the common thread, appearing from or responding to electronic soundscapes, "glitch piano ambience" he calls it. The sweeping strings and looping piano motif of opener 'Shelter' or the very gentle breeze of 'Kanal' set the tone nicely here.' Electronic Sound Magazine [Issue 76]
