DIEGO MAROTO Presently Diego Maroto is one of the greatest exponents of Jazz Music in Mexico. He has over one hundred CD’s recorded both as an associate and under his own name. He is also well known for his relentless work as a Jazz educator, concert performer, and composer. He is acknowleged as one of the key artists in the Mexican Jazz arena as well as a prominent representative of such abroad. Born in Mexico City in 1968, Diego started private saxophone lessons from teachers Larry Roussell and Alfonso Martinez, at the same time studied art history at the Universidad Iberoamericana. This led to further studies in improvisation, arrangement and composition at the Escuela Superior de Musica, and saxophone lessons with Danny Matusack and Darryl Winsman. Diego has been a part of recordings and projects by the most outstanding Mexican jazz musicians like Eugenio Toussaint, Agustin Bernal, Enrique Neri, Fernando Toussaint, Cristobal Lopez, Chilo Moran, Miguel Salas, Francisco Tellez, Iraida Noriega, La Casa de Agua, Waldo Madera, Linea Tres, and Roberto Aymes, amongst others. Along with his rising career as an important representative of jazz in Mexico, Diego has performed with great success on some of the most distinguished venues in Mexico and abroad with some of the most outstanding Latin American artists, comprising styles that range from rock, pop, to Afroantillian music.
