Biography

House duo Fish Go Deep, comprised of DJs Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson, have been spinning records for enthusiastic nightclub audiences since the late '80s. They earned a residency early on at one of Ireland's most influential nightclubs, Sweat at Sir Henry's, in their hometown of Cork. Their time at Sweat, lasting more than a decade, established them as pioneers and trendsetters in the growing European dance music scene. Wrapping up at Sweat in 2001, Fish Go Deep made appearances throughout the U.K., Ireland, Canada, and the U.S. Their international fan base was expanded thanks to a deal with New Jersey-based i! Records, which was the first to release Fish Go Deep's full-length records, starting with the Flying Funk EP released in 2000. Since that time, the duo has been featured on countless collections and compilations from house music's most reputable record labels. Fish Go Deep have also established themselves as a strong radio presence via their show on Cork's Radio Friendly (becoming one of the station's most popular programs) and Red FM's Go Deep show. In 2005 Dowling and Johnson established Ork Recordings with the help of hometown friend Mark O'Sullivan. The label's breakthrough single, The Cure and the Cause, found favor with dance music audiences starting in 2006, and gained popularity through the summer of 2007 when the track was released throughout Europe by house music giant Defected Records. The tune was named one of the "tracks of the summer" by Billboard magazine, launching the underground legends of Fish Go Deep onto electronic music's center stage. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez, Rovi
