Cassius A. was born in Lins de Vasconcelos, in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. He started playing music in 2009, as part of the band Dorgas, producing 4 EPs and a studio album. Under the alias Cassius A., he released two solo EPs : "Cemitério de Elefante" (2017) and "Coisas do Rio" (2018), on his own label "A Onda Errada", focused on songwriting infused with an electronic backbone. Getting exponentially involved in Brazil's vibrant electronic music scene, he started dj'ing and producing parties, and eventually created a dancefloor-oriented moniker called Jacques Default, that so far released an album - Pequenas Cartografias (unsbeat, 2019) and three EPs : Saudade do Futuro (Baphyphyna, 2019), Pays de Paysages (40% Foda/Maneirissimo, 2020) and Feriado Prolongado (GopTun, 2021). Besides those two solo projects, Cassius plays keyboards, guitar, bass, lends vocals and produces the band Tintapreta, a multi-person ensemble based on poetry and visual arts.
