Biography

Formed by multi-instrumentalist Ian De Cerbo and classically trained pianist/singer Doreen De Cerbo from San Diego, CA. They first formed a 5 piece group called War & Cinema. They played shows together at venues like The Casbah, Knitting Factory as well local bars and special events. They recorded a handful of music but never officially released anything. After W&C dissolved the remaining members Ian and Doreen started writing and recording as a duo DorIan. They later formed the band Hezus recording and playing with an ever changing lineup; including Danny Barragan (DRB Drumetrics), Justin Smith (Citizen Ten / The Zap Tap), Santino Romeri (Get Back Loretta / The Most Hi), Mark De Cerbo (Four Eyes / Rockola), and Danny Nguyen (Winter Inter). They released a couple mixtapes and a limited run 7” vinyl 45 on Six Ton Armor out of France. They played a showcase for The Gaslamp Killer at The Mayan Theater in Los Angeles performing along side Drumetrics, Flying Lotus, Computer Jay, Teebs, and more. Along the way Hezus was approached by Hit & Run founder Brandy Flower and Bay Area artist Benji Mophono for some vinyl releases. They produced some remixes on Warp Records with Gonjasufi and a Mixtape on Hit & Run. Hezus disbanded in 2020 but has continued to record and will release archival and newer music, including War & Cinema, and Hezus unreleased material.
