Biography

Alejandro Rivas Cottle is a composer and singer-songwriter born in La Paz, Bolivia based in Brussels. He studied composition and orchestra conducting in La Paz and music production in Ghent. He started working in various musical fields; as a assistant conductor Symphonic Band Bolivian National Conservatory and Experimental Orchestra of Indigenous Instruments OEIN, He has written music for both ensambles Boquerón 1932 for symphonic band, Viento for OEIN. As a singer-songwriter he has brought his soulful music,given concerts in different cities of Bolivia and other countries such as Spain, Peru, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Finland, Galapagos, bringing since 1996. Combining these different experiences, Alejandro became interested in music for film. Since 2011 he has composed music for different projects in Bolivia and Belgium; advertising, animation film, documentaries and feature film: among others ‘San Antonio’, 'Norte Estrecho', ‘Rivers to dust’ (USA), 'Corazón de Dragon', ’Memento Mori’, ‘El Color del Camaleón’, 'Nosotros lo Bárbaros' The variety of influences makes him a versatile composer his scores ranges from music with strong Latin-American identity to classical, rock, ballads or electronic.
