Biography
HENRIK DAHLGREN (b. 1991) is a Swedish composer who studied at the Malmö Academy of Music and at London’s Royal College of Music. Henrik also has a master’s degree in vocal music composition from the University of Aberdeen where he studied with the very well-known choral composer Paul Mealor. Henrik began his musical career as a rock drummer, and moved between various styles and genres ever since, both as a musician and as a composer/arranger. His focus is on choral music and he has worked with ensembles all over the world such as Svanholm Singers, Vocal Art Ensemble of Sweden, USC Thornton Chamber Singers, San Diego Master Chorale, Bel Canto Choir Vilnius, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, US Airforce Academy Band & Men’s Vocal Ensemble Hiroshima, to name a few. Henrik has received several scholarships from distinguished organizations such as the Centre of Choral Activities in Southern Sweden (2014), the Royal Swedish Academy of Music (2016) and the Swedish collecting society STIM (2020). In 2018 he was awarded the Cultural Scholarship of Lund, his hometown and in 2020 the Swedish Church Cultural Scholarship. Henrik has been composer-in-residence at Visby International Centre for Composers as well as the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada where he worked with Michael Zaugg, Lone Larsen and the professional choir Pro Coro Canada. Henrik’s music is published by Gehrmans Musikförlag and Bo Ejeby Förlag.
