“Gawdess Era” is the debut of performer, producer, singer-songwriter Hook Gawdess. Gawdess’ music has been described as unique, fresh, and timeless, and this debut represents the artist stepping into her feminine power and introducing her own sound to the music industry. Born in 1993, Gawdess developed her ear for music from listening to her parents sing around the house. Her mother, who favored artists like Chaka Khan, and father, who loved The S.O.S Band, exposed her to the eclectic sounds of the 70’s and 80’s at a young age. Through her parents and growing up in a culturally rich environment, she was blessed with knowing the diversity of sound. R&B, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Afrobeat, Soca, Dancehall, and Reggaeton have all aided in her versatility as a creator. While Gawdess started experimenting with producing at the age of 23, she has always possessed a love and natural talent for the arts. Through elementary school and high school, she discovered a love for performing, songwriting, and poetry. Over the years, her room, journal, and Garageband became her saving grace. She dedicated numerous hours daily making beats, crafting lyrics, and even practicing her stage presence. On February 3rd, 2019, the alias “Hook Gawdess” was born. Producing beats and tailoring hooks for each one started to become her superpower. From there, she decided to expand her artistry and transition from producing and writing hooks, to an artist, writing and performing full songs.
