For ILL LIL, music started out as a way to make friends in an environment where it was easier to make enemies. Literally “beating lockers with a pen”, was the method of which he delivered his innovate song ideas. Music wasn’t something he had to force, it came naturally. He is connected to music and can masterfully recreate emotions and feelings from energy generated by a beat. Growing up, he was heavily influenced by old school R&B and Hip Hop but he has since found inspiration in Jazz, Soft Rock, Classical Music, and more. He felt like his whole life has been lived within the shadow of others’ expectations of him and through his music he is able to release the bottled-up emotions. People won’t just listen to his music, they’ll feel it. He has waited all his life for this and he won’t blow his shot.
