As a result of continuous work, a multitude of his own projects as well as being a sought after sideman, the bass player and composer André Nendza is one of the most outstanding musicians of the German music scene. Nendza graduated at the jazz department of the Academy of Music Cologne (diploma in 1997). The bassist has played live and recorded with Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Rick Margitza, Paolo Fresu, Dominique Pifarély, Charlie Mariano, Mike Walker, Adrian Mears, Philip Catherine, Dave Pike, Rob van den Broeck, Marc Bassey, Angelika Niescier, Eivind Aarset, Céline Rudolph Nendza has recorded over 80 albums (16 as a leader/co-leader) and appeared in various radio and TV recordings. He was featured several times in all relevant German Jazz-Magazines. He is the owner of “Jazzsick records” in collaboration with Philipp van Endert. André Nendza has toured Germany, Europe and the U.S.A In 1997 Nendza was awarded the Kulturförderpreis der Sparkassenstiftung NRW. In 2009 his duet with Angelika Niescier qualified for the final of the “Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis”. In 2012 André Nendza was awarded the ECHO JAZZ for the category “Instrumentalist/in des Jahres national Bass/Bassgitarre” for his album "rooms restored". In 2014 he won the “Neuer deutscher Jazzpreis” with “Tria Lingvo”. Nendza has been writing regular articles for “Blogthing”, the online blog of the magazine Jazzthing since 2007.
