Simon Roberts (Classicalbanksy) A former Opera Singer, Simon survived an AIDS diagnosis in 2005, which cost him his opera career and very nearly his life. He was Personal Assistant to the iconic composer Gian-Carlo Menotti, who inspired him to become a composer in his own right. Fast-forward to 2017, and Simon exploded back onto the international music scene, as creative alter-ego Classicalbanksy, with a stunning debut single “The American Dream?” Describing the style as “Operatic Pop,” "The American Dream?" caused quite a stir, with the BBC promptly banning it, on the grounds it was too political. 2018 finally sees the completion of Simon’s debut album, mischievously entitled "Transgenre.” It features tracks written by Simon in tribute to Artists including George Michael, Klaus Nomi, John Lydon and Trevor Horn, in a style the redefines genre. Simon already has several small-screen credits to his name. He has also written title sequence themes and incidental music for two historical series on YouTube, attracting the attention of broadcasters including ITV in the UK, and C-Span in the USA. A student since 2017 on the Hans Zimmer Film Score Masterclass, 2018 is the year Simon’s music makes its Big Screen debut, as part of the Sundance Film Festival Community, with a complete screening at The Sundance Film Festival, California in 2019. Simon is coached by the legendary producer Man Parrish, and has recently begun writing new material for artists including Kylie Minogue.
