Biography

Born in Arizona, Martin Davich began playing piano at the age of 4. His early study of classical music led him to the University of Southern California, where he found his love for composition. After leaving USC, he began playing and conducting for various artists including Andy Williams, Anthony Newley, Burt Bacharach, The Smothers Brothers and several more. Martin then transitioned into writing music for major network television shows, beginning with Beverly Hills 90210 in the 1980’s and later ER where Martin was the music composer for every episode of the series, with the exception of the theme song and pilot score which was written by James Newton Howard. This ushered in several collaborations with James, including the movies Mad Money and I Bring What I Love. On the latter film Martin worked with Senegalese songwriter/composer Youssou N’Dour, having previously collaborated with him on 2 special ER episodes. To date, Martin has received 2 Emmy Awards with a total of 15 nominations. Martin currently resides in Pasadena, CA with his wife Carrie where he continues to write, teach and record music.
