Biography

**Bamboo** is a renowned Filipino rock band that made a significant impact on the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene in the 2000s. Formed in 2003 by former Rivermaya frontman Bamboo Mañalac, alongside Nathan Azarcon, Ira Cruz, and Vic Mercado, the band quickly rose to fame with their distinctive sound and powerful performances. Known for blending alternative rock with Filipino cultural elements, Bamboo delivered anthemic hits like “Noypi,” “Hallelujah,” and “Tatsulok,” which resonated deeply with the Filipino youth. Their debut album, *As The Music Plays*, was a commercial success, establishing them as one of the leading acts in the local music scene. They followed it up with critically acclaimed albums such as *Light Peace Love* and *Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday*. Bamboo's socially conscious lyrics and dynamic live shows earned them a loyal fan base and multiple awards, including several from the Awit and MTV Pilipinas Music Awards. Despite disbanding in 2011, Bamboo's legacy endures, influencing a new generation of Filipino artists. Their music continues to inspire, celebrating the spirit and resilience of the Filipino people.
