Biography

NEW RELEASE: After 3 studio albums, Outer Park is back with a live set on “Unplugged (mostly)." Vocalist Chelsea Austin once again brings contemporary perspective to the collaboration that guitarist Patrick S. Noonan, bassist James Singleton & keyboardist Charles Tobermann began in 1968... playing their first-ever rock gig, as 12-year olds. The year 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of that inauspicious church-basement beginning. The founding trio mused, "What would the music of our shared past sound like now... through the lens of the decades of music we have each played since, and the decades of life we've experienced?" The stars - and schedules - lined up, and after recruiting Chelsea, "Outer Park" was born. From a studio in New Orleans came the 2019 album "1968 (slight return)." In 2020 they released a 10 song set, "Whole Lotta Orange," again embracing the wild and fresh juxtaposition of folk, rock, jazz, blues, Americana, psychedelic and other styles that were the hallmark of early FM radio. Drummer Jason Marsalis returned, along with other special guests Justin Peake, Paul Lieberman, and more. Drawing on those same sessions and guests, "Blood from an Orange" (in 2022) became their 3rd mashed-up, mixed-up and modernized journey through the diverse styles & sounds that distinguished the dawn of underground radio. A 2022 concert in Atlanta - their first and only (so far) as Outer Park - was captured for the new live release, "Unplugged (mostly)."
