The Southwest raised, London dwelling Bass-music artist Eyeza (Izaak Buffin) is one of the new figures in the development of UK Bass music, both as a recording artist and as the founder of the ever progressive label Basilica. Eyeza’s use of dark and euphoric atmospherics combined with the energy and aggression that can be found deep in the dark corners of Berlin Techno clubs intertwines with the sounds of the flourishing UK Bass ‘130’ scene, originally pioneered by labels such as Swamp81, Keysound, Tectonic and more. In early 2016 Eyeza cut his teeth in Bristol's vibrant underground music culture immersing himself in the stylings of Dub, Bristol’s signature Dubstep and Grime scene and also the further reaches of UK Techno. Originally forming part of the Bristol duo ‘Eyez & Sleepa’, Eyeza began experimenting with the Bristol style that was so thriving in the clubs and back rooms where the sub runs high and lights run low. This love of the Bristol sound influenced Eyeza and other associates to create their own label - Basilica. Beginning with hosting popular club nights and events with the likes of Berghains Opium hum, Swamp81’s Lamont and more, Basilica soon expanded beyond an event and moved onto a popular mix series for music that fits the dark and heavy corridors of its structure. Now they move onto their debut VA release at the end of 2020.
