Yoko Pwno deliver an unclassifiable and joyful mash-up of original folk tunes, showstopping vocals and irreverent dance music. The band innovate, flex and mutate traditional Scottish folk and roots in a way few are able. Live on stage they deliver louder than life energy and more than a dash of tongue-in-cheek humour. Their lineup features the twin fiddles of whisky-fuelled folk maestro Lewis Williamson and classically trained RCS graduate Lissa Robertson, alongside furniture building banjo player Gary Rafferty and physics teaching flautist Helen LeMar. At the back of the stage, drummer Ali Hutchison and producer Calum Cummins are equally at home and referencing dance acts like Disclosure and The Prodigy as they are folk-crossover acts like Shooglenifty and the Peatbog Faeries. Their second full length album, ‘Part Machine’ will be released in April 2022 via producer Iain Copeland’s (Sketch, Adam Sutherland) Skye Records imprint. ““One of Scotland’s most loved live acts” - Pheobe IH - BBC Introducing in Scotland ““Yoko Pwno are moving folk music forward. This is possibly the most genuinely innovative folk album of the year so far!” — Jonathan Roscoe - 'Shire Folk' ““A marriage made in heaven… Dripping with references to techno, drum and bass and Chicago house, this is traditional music given a new and infectious energy.” — Jonny Jobson, The National
