Jhalen's vocals have a polished blend mixed with his deep baritone voice and melodic harmonies. Jhalen knew he wanted to make music for a lifetime after finding it to be his number one coping mechanism after suffering from a history of molestation, depression, anxiety, and suicide attempt at 12 years old. He started out with writing poetry about his inner feelings and thoughts. That transitioned into original lyrics and melodies he would create to help him escape his reality at times. "When people listen to my music, I want them to experience feelings of belonging, happiness, and safeness by understanding everyday situations I have had and continue to go through, both good and bad," said Wells. Jhalen explains his reason for making music is to never lose touch with his true inner feelings and to share it with other individuals who can relate. Jhalen personally grew up and fell under the musical influences of Chris Brown, Usher, & Bryson Tiller.
