With roots in the American rust belt town of McKeesport PA, GPK developed his sound from experiences living in the dense urban area, once the fastest growing municipality in the nation. Linking up with the GOAT records crew resulted in him creating his signature thiccc bass sound. After years of playing sold-out shows at Pittsburgh’s legendary DNB nightclub - The BBT, he traded in big-city life for seclusion in the woods in central Pennsylvania. A Walden-esque compound would be his home base where he’d become immersed in creating his first album - Night Science [released September 2020]. Where do you go from there? You go back... GPK conceived a neo-classical approach to the post-modern Drum ‘n’ Bass sound, and by saying yes to modular synthesis and no to software, he was able to discover new possibilities with filter modulation. After all, the PC computer is limited and has trouble crunching those imaginary numbers that pop up in analog filter design. Mathematician by day, Jump-up d&b producer by night, he is influenced by Dillinja, DJ Hazard and Q Project’s haircut. He’s also inspired by The Residents, Judas Priest, The Modern Lovers, Stevie Wonder, Roland 808 creator Ikutaro Kakahash and the color SeaFoam green. The most important influence was Nightwalker who told GPK to “be wary of fuzzy bunny rabbits” when entering the drum ‘n’ bass production business.
