Tender Central aka India Bourne is a rising cellist, bassist and songwriter from the west country. Weaving infectious hooks and ornate piano inflections across a track embedded with classical undertones, India manages to keep things refreshingly modern. The Tender Central project lends her delicate ear for musical arrangement to the realm of electronica and folk, resulting in productions that evoke the sounds of her ethereal electronic forebearers Massive Attack, Lamb and Zero 7, and the unmistakable vocal similarities to legends such as Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. A classically trained musician, India has long been a core member of childhood friend Ben Howard’s band, together having toured the world several times over. She has also performed and toured with Australian troubadour and one half of Howling, RY X, and supergroup A Blaze of A Feather. Following a sold out showcase at St. Pancras Old Church, India released her debut solo single Wake Me Up to an impressive reception: a spot in the top 5 viral chart on Spotify and support from Radio 1, Beats 1 and BBC Radio 6. Since her follow up single Lava on Communion Records (Daughter, Michael Kiwanuka) India has spent the past year writing an album’s worth of material in her idyllic west country studio with renowned UK producer James Jacob. In 2020 her Tender Central vision comes to the fore.
