Ignacio Lopez Jr. aka “DELACiiO” was born and raised in Oakland, CA. While he still resides in the Bay Area, his parents’ pueblos and his Mexican culture have never left him. As a kid, he watched telenovelas with his mom who herself was a singer. His dad also aspired to be a singer and was responsible for turning DELACiiO onto old school Mexican bands such as, Los Bukis. Melding the influences of his parents, local rappers and MTV, DELACiiO began to view his life as a suspense drama in which his musical influences became its soundtrack and provided a path out of the danger that surrounded him growing up. At 14 he started making music and by highschool he was putting out his own music via a youth program that saved him from getting pulled into the nefarious pursuits of some of his peers. Although music was his passion, his professional pursuits veered outside of entertainment as he learned new, more lucrative business skills. Despite his newfound professional success, he missed being creative. After a particularly painful romantic breakup, he realized true happiness could only be achieved if he started to make music again. By blending intricate stories of everyday life with all of his musical influences Musica Mexicana, Reggaeton, Hip-hop- DELACiiO has created both a unique visual and musical language that pulses through all of his songs. He tells stories that conjure the drama of pueblo life as seen through the lens of a 21st century Mexican-American desperado.
